Where and how are the classes taking place. What you need to participate.
This course takes place simultaneously in the classroom at IBZ Dortmund and online.
The A1 course comprises approx. 180 units of 45 minutes, including 15 units extra practice to develop your communicative skills (i.e. speaking skills).
This course is aimed at beginners with little or no knowledge of German. Knowledge of the Latin (Roman) alphabet is required.
What you will learn during the course:
You will learn German for everyday life. Whether it’s shopping, at the doctor’s or in a restaurant – you’ll soon be able to speak, write, listen and read on a basic level.
Level A1.1
In A1.1 (approx. 90 units) you will learn everything you need if you are completely new in Germany, such as the German alphabet and numbers. But we will also learn much more:
How do you ask for names and origins? What are the German names of the different countries, languages and nationalities? How do you ask about someone’s relatives? How can you describe your everyday life and your daily routines? How can you talk about your hobbies? How can you describe objects and people?
Of course, you also learn the basics of German grammar: How to conjugate German verbs? How to form a simple sentence? How to ask questions? How form the plural? All of this and much more is what you will learn in our school. We also do a lot of dialogues and games so the lessons are fun and improve your German skills at the same time.
Level A1.2
In A1.2 (approx. 90 units), you will get to know still more topics: How to talk about food and drink. How to talk about what you did yesterday or over the weekend. How can you tell what you are interested in? How do you tell the time? How do you tell the time, the date, days and months? How can you tell someone where you are? How can you describe your family and your work?
As for the grammar, we will deal with more difficult topics: What exactly is the accusative case? How do you form the perfect tense? What are separable verbs? And what is the difference between “nicht” and “kein”? In A1.2 we will also practice dialogues and play games. This will improve your German very quickly and you will have much more success in your daily life.
Your skills after the course:
At the end of the course, you will be able to understand and use words and form simple sentences that you need in your daily life. You will be able to have a simple conversation if the other person speaks slowly and clearly and helps you.
